Abet IT Services
1. Scope of Services
I provide mobile, in-home, remote, and in-shop computer repair, network setup, and IT concierge services. I strive to resolve all technical issues; however, certain hardware or software problems may be unrepairable or not cost-effective to repair.
2. Remote Support Services
For remote tech support, I require a stable internet connection to securely access your system. You will be able to view all actions I take on your screen during the session, and you maintain the right to terminate the remote connection at any time. I am not responsible for service delays or incomplete repairs caused by network outages or drops in your internet connection.
3. In-Shop & Drop-Off Services
When you drop off equipment at my physical location, I will provide an intake receipt and an estimated timeline for completion. While your device is in my shop, it is stored securely. However, I am not liable for damage caused by pre-existing hardware failures, extreme weather events, or circumstances beyond my control while the device is on the premises.
4. Right to Refuse Service
For in-home appointments, I require a safe, accessible, and sanitary working environment. I reserve the right to refuse, reschedule, or immediately terminate service if I determine the working environment is unsafe, hazardous, or if a customer is abusive or uncooperative.
5. Billing and Payment
- Service Fees: Services are billed according to my flat-rate pricing structure or an agreed-upon quote prior to the start of work.
- Parts and Hardware: The cost of hardware parts or software licenses is not included in the standard labor rate. I will never purchase required parts without getting your explicit approval first.
- Payment Terms: Payment is due in full immediately upon completion of the service. I accept cash, credit/debit cards, and approved digital payment methods.
6. Data Backup and Liability
- Customer Responsibility: You are solely responsible for backing up all data, software, and files prior to any service performed by me.
- No Liability for Data Loss: While I take every possible precaution, data loss can occur during hardware or software troubleshooting. I am not responsible or liable for any loss, alteration, or corruption of data, software, or files.
7. Hardware Liability & Pre-Existing Conditions
Computers and electronics are highly complex and can occasionally fail without warning. I am not responsible for any coincidental hardware failure that occurs while a device is in my possession, during an in-home service call, or during a remote session. Pre-existing physical damage or failing components will be documented prior to service, and I cannot be held liable for the eventual failure of these parts.
8. Software Licensing
You are responsible for providing authentic, legally acquired software and licenses for any programs you request me to install. I will not install pirated, illegal, or unlicensed software under any circumstances.
9. Abandoned Property
If equipment is taken off-site or dropped off at my shop for repair, I will notify you when the service is complete. If you do not arrange for delivery or claim the equipment within thirty (30) days of the initial completion notice, the equipment will be considered abandoned. I reserve the right to recycle, dispose of, or sell abandoned property to recover unpaid service costs.
10. Limited Warranty on Labor
I provide a 30-day limited warranty on my labor. If the exact same software or hardware issue reoccurs within 30 days of the original service, I will attempt to resolve the issue at no additional labor cost. This warranty does not cover:
- New issues unrelated to the original service.
- Virus/malware reinfections due to user activity.
- Hardware parts (parts are subject only to the original manufacturer's warranty).
11. Privacy and Confidentiality
I deeply respect your privacy. Passwords provided to me for service purposes are kept strictly confidential and are used only to complete the requested repairs. I will never browse, copy, or distribute your personal files, photos, or data unless explicitly requested by you for data backup or transfer purposes.
12. Governing Law
These terms and any services provided by Abet IT Services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Indiana.
